Nelvana, one of Canada’s leading children’s producers, has tapped Christie Dreyfuss director of development.
Based in Los Angeles, Dreyfuss will work closely with Nelvana’s head office in Toronto in developing long-form film and TV projects including “Puff the Magic Dragon,” the classic novel “Heidi” and William Joyce’s “Bentley and Egg.” She will also be scouting the book community for potential properties for development.
In addition, Dreyfuss will be involved with the sales of publishing rights for Nelvana’s original properties.
Nelvana will supply PBS with a three-hour block of children’s programming beginning this fall — the first time a Canuck supplier has received such an extensive commission from U.S. public television.
Dreyfuss joins Nelvana from Scholastic Prods., where she served as the executive in charge of production for two seasons on the HBO series “Dear America.” She also worked as a development exec for TV series and film projects.
Dreyfuss will report to Toper Taylor, president of the U.S. division of Nelvana.
