BMG lifts Conroy to division topper, tech prez

Kevin Conroy has been upped from senior veep of worldwide marketing and new technology to chief marketing officer and prexy of new technology for BMG Entertainment.

Conroy will continue to oversee all corporate marketing and new-media development for BMG Entertainment operations around the world. Conroy’s responsibilities will stretch from priority artist, partnership, catalog and online marketing to music programming, new technology and digital distribution. He will report to BMG Entertainment prexy/CEO Strauss Zelnick.

“Kevin’s reputation as a marketing visionary is richly deserved,” Zelnick said. “He has developed an innovative and comprehensive approach to marketing BMG’s artists and has been responsible for creating our leadership position on the Internet. His passion and dedication strengthen BMG’s core mission of being the most creative, innovative and efficient music company.”

“This is a very exciting time for us as we take advantage of and develop new ways to build awareness and drive sales of our artists’ music,” Conroy said. “The great news is that we now have more tools available for us to accomplish these goals. Our expanded worldwide marketing group is looking forward to working even more closely with our labels, repertoire centers and business units to bring our artists’ music to fans around the world in new and innovative ways.”

Prior to being named senior veep of worldwide marketing and new technology, Conroy spent more than three years as head of marketing at BMG Entertainment North America. Before joining BMG in 1995, Conroy was veep of marketing for CBS/Fox Video.
