NEW YORK — Danielle Whelton has been named CNN’s White House exec producer, replacing John Gilmore, who will become a senior producer for the cable news network’s “Larry King Live.”
Whelton, who has been a White House producer since 1997, will be responsible for all aspects of CNN’s White House coverage, including daily news stories, White House events and planning and executing coverage of domestic and international presidential trips.
As a White House producer, Whelton covered the impeachment and trial of President Clinton. Whelton — who began her career in 1989 at ABC News in London as a researcher — joined CNN Intl. as the London bureau’s library coordinator in 1992 and was named a producer in 1995.
Gilmore, who served as the network’s White House exec producer since October 1999, joined CNN in 1986.
