Viewers get ‘Final Cut’

Col, Box lets fans pick Wyclef video

Columbia Records and the Box Music Network have created a new programming concept, “Final Cut.” Beginning the week of April 17, the Box will allow viewers to vote on which of two versions of Wyclef Jean’s “Thug Angels” video will be released nationally the following week.

Viewers will be able to vote for their favorite version through several avenues, including ordering the video from the Box (by phone or via the Box’s Web site) or by calling a special toll free number. The Sony Music Web site will be linked to the Box’s Web site as well.

In addition, the Box’s Web site, its Box Fusion site, and Wyclef Jean’s Web site will offer extensive surveys about the video and other topics. After reviewing all the information gleaned from these sources, Columbia and the Box will decide which version of the video wins.

The Wyclef Jean album (“The Ecleftic — Two Sides of a Book”) from which “Thug Angels” is taken, is set to be released in July.
