The Recording Industry Assn. of America has tapped Amy Weiss as senior veep for communications. Weiss — who officially starts on Monday — will spearhead the org’s public relations efforts with regard to new technologies, First Amendment challenges, legislative actions and international policy.
Weiss was most recently director of public affairs at the Burson-Marsteller ad agency. Prior to that, she was deputy press secretary to President Clinton, having previously been deputy assistant to the president and deputy press secretary for operations, where she served as chief of staff to then-press secretary Mike McCurry.
Weiss also previously served as communications director for the Democratic National Committee and as press secretary for the late Rep. Mike Synar (D-Okla.).
