Rhino Records and Chapter III Records have pacted to release 40 scores and soundtracks from MGM films in the Turner Entertainment library.
Chapter III will issue 25 discs under the banners of Main Events and Double Features, which will include two scores on a disc. Among the musical works that will be released for the first time on CD are “The Cincinnati Kid,” “Grand Prix,” “Ryan’s Daughter” and “Westworld.”
The first four albums in the series will be released June 20. Titles are “The Dirty Dozen” (Frank De Vol)/”Dirty Dingus Magee” (Jeff Alexander); “The Last Run”/”The Wild Rovers” (Jerry Goldsmith); “Guns for San Sebastian” (Ennio Morricone)/”Dark of the Sun” (Jacques Loussier); and “Logan’s Run”/”Coma” (Goldsmith).
Chapter III will allow between three and five months between each block of releases.
