Hong Kong’s Star TV, CCTV in tune

World Brief

Star TV’s Channel V — a joint venture with record company EMI — has announced a collaboration with China Central Television (CCTV) to present Channel V’s seventh annual Chinese Music Awards, the closest thing China has to the Grammys. The alliance is a handy weapon for the music channel in its battle for Chinese market share with MTV. The awards will be presented Jan. 17 in Beijing, and broadcast on Channel V and CCTV’s state-controlled network.
