Music vet once guided the careers of AC/DC, Cyndi Lauper, Foreigner
Steve Barnett has been upped to executive vice president and general manager of the Epic Records Group.
Barnett will work with both Polly Anthony, president of Epic Records Group, and David R. Glew, Epic’s chairman, on a wide range of strategic initiatives and in overseeing the group’s day-to-day operations.
The former exec VP of worldwide marketing for the Sony-owned label and its sister imprint 550 Music will report to Anthony. He is based in New York.
Barnett joined Epic in 1996 as senior veep, international. Previously, he spent eight years as president of Hard to Handle Management, where he oversaw the careers of AC/DC, Cyndi Lauper, Foreigner and others.
“Steve’s leadership abilities and broad understanding of the marketplace have enabled him to make significant contributions to the growth and development of Epic Records Group,” Anthony said in announcing Barnett’s appointment.
