New duties include 'Net marketing, prod'n operations
Warner Music unit Elektra Entertainment Group has upped Brian Cohen to senior vice president of marketing.
Until the promotion, Cohen had been vice president of marketing at the label, home to an eclectic group of acts including Busta Rhymes, Metallica and Linda Ronstadt.
In his new capacity, Cohen will hold the reins for Elektra album and video production operations, as well as the company’s marketing efforts on the Internet. Cohen will also retain his old duties as marketing VP, including oversight of tour marketing, advertising and merchandising.
Exec joined Elektra in 1990 as director of advertising, and in 1995 was bumped up to vice president for the label’s creative services division.
Prior to joining Elektra, Cohen started his music-industry career in 1987 as manager of sales and distribution for Los Angeles-based indie imprint Restless Records, erstwhile home to such artists as the Replacements and Soul Asylum.
