Group scores 4; Fatboy, Basement, Travis each earn 3
LONDON — The dance outfit the Chemical Brothers leads the pack for this year’s Brit Awards, with nominations in four categories, including best album for “Surrender” and single for “Hey Boy Hey Girl.”
Dance acts figure prominently overall. Fatboy Slim and Basement Jaxx will each be up for three awards at the March 3 event at London’s Earl’s Court; Shanks & Bigfoot earned two noms.
On the rock front, Travis took three noms, for group, album and single. Stereophonics, Gomez and Blur each received two noms.
Pop contenders include ex-Spice Girl Geri Halliwell, up for best female and pop act. Vying for international female as well as international newcomer are critics’ fave Macy Gray, Britney Spears and Jennifer Lopez.
