Behind VH1’s ‘Rock & Roll’ pic

Concept behind film is as 'fundamental as a Ramones riff,' Gaspin sez

HOLLYWOOD — VH1 exec veep of programming Jeff Gaspin said the concept behind “It’s Only Rock & Roll” is as fundamental as a Ramones riff: “We looked at ‘That’s Entertainment’ and said, ‘That was for musicals. Let’s do it for rock ’n’ roll movies.’ ”

And while Gaspin conceded that “not every music movie is brilliant” (and proof came with the “Can’t Stop the Music” clip) he believes that “that within most of them there are a couple brilliant moments.”

Among those on hand to view those moments at Wednesday’s DGA preem and attend the Sunset Room after-party were VH1’s Lauren Zalaznick and Michael Larkin, guests Christina Applegate, Johnathon Schaech, Billy Dee Williams, Deedee Pfeiffer and Leila Ancieri.
