UPI's London marketing team gets reprieve
LONDON — Despite the closure of Universal Pictures Intl., U has decided to keep UPI’s London-based marketing team to oversee the international release of its specialized films via United Intl. Pictures.David Livingstone, formerly UPI’s president of marketing, will continue with the studio, along with Kate Luczyc-Wyhowska, senior VP of publicity, and marketing director Charlotte Saint. They will be responsible for the marketing and distribution of pics from Working Title Films and DNA Films, as well as any projects picked up by U’s (and formerly UPI’s) London-based acquisitions team headed by Graeme Mason. Livingstone will report to Nadia Bronson, U’s president of international marketing. Special approach “We will be involved not so much with specialized films as with films that need specialized handling,” Livingstone told Daily Variety. Current pics falling under his remit include Working Title’s “Oh Brother, Where Art Thou,” “Captain Corelli’s Mandolin,” “The Man Who Cried,” “Dancer” and “Bridget Jones’ Diary,” as well as “Strictly Sinatra” and “Creatures” from DNA Films. Livingstone has worked on all of Working Title’s films since “Four Weddings and a Funeral.” He also spent a period as senior VP of creative affairs at Polygram’s U.S. distribution arm.
