Pub gets two-book deal from Janowicz
Pocket has inked a deal for one of the Frankfurt Book Fair’s most buzzed-about titles, “Towers of Silence,” a financial and legal thriller by Philip Janowicz. The $500,000 deal is for two books.
“Silence” is not yet complete, but it proved compelling enough for British publisher Transworld to shell out six figures on the confab’s opening day. U.K. agent Mark Lucas sold foreign territories at the event, but a U.S. deal took days to materialize.
Pocket publisher Judith Kerr acquired the book in conjunction with editor George Lucas.
CAA, the only major Hollywood agency represented at the event — agent Robert Bookman attended — is taking the book into studios when the manuscript is finished.
