John Spencer (“The West Wing”) will play the lead in the West Coast premiere of Warren Leight’s “Glimmer, Glimmer and Shine” at the Mark Taper Forum in January.
Spencer will reprise the role he created when the play premiered as “Glimmer Brothers” at the Williamstown Theater Festival last July. Spencer currently appears in NBC’s “West Wing” as chief of staff Leo McGarry. He was previously a series regular on “L.A. Law.”
Leight’s “Side Man” won the 1999 Tony for best play. “Glimmer” is also set in the jazz world, taking place in a big band in the 1950s. It opens Jan. 25.
