Reprise! sets UCLA slate

Sills to star in 'Mack'

Douglas Sills, who made his Broadway debut in “The Scarlet Pimpernel” and will star in the Ahmanson Theatre presentation next month, will star in “Mack & Mabel,” one of three musicals in the next season for Reprise!

Reprise!, which stages concert versions of Broadway musicals, is entering its fourth season. Producing artistic director Marcia Seligson announced the season Tuesday.

Reprise! Broadway’s best in Concert will stage, at the UCLA Freud Playhouse, “Call Me Madam” with Chita Rivera Sept. 13-24, “Mack & Mabel” Nov. 8-19 and “Strike Up the Band” Feb. 22 to March 4.

“Call Me Madam” will be directed by John Bowab, who directed Rivera in a Broadway fund-raiser of “Sweet Charity.” Arthur Allan Seidelman, a two-time Reprise! vet, will helm “Mack & Mabel,” which will feature a new book by Francine Pascal. David Ives has written the concert adaptation of Gershwins’ “Strike Up the Band.” The director is not yet set.
