LONDON — Conor McPherson, the rising Irish playwright and screenwriter, is set to direct an untitled movie for DreamWorks via Neil Jordan and Steve Woolley’s production shingle Company of Wolves.
McPherson, whose directorial debut “Saltwater” will premiere in the Panorama sidebar at the Berlin Film Festival next month, is best known as the writer of the Broadway and West End hit “The Weir.”
He will start shooting the new pic, currently titled “The Actors’ Project,” in April.
Written by McPherson from an idea by Jordan, it’s a comedy about two actors, one older and one younger, who get embroiled in Dublin’s criminal underworld. No casting has yet been confirmed, although Jordan stalwart Ian Hart is in the frame for the junior thesp.
Pic will be the first into production for Company of Wolves under its overall deal with DreamWorks.
