WB swayed by Butcher’s ‘Wind’

Studio eyes Herek to helm thriller pitch

Warner Bros. has ponied up low- against mid-six figures for “In the Wind,” a pitch delivered by scribe Oliver Butcher.

Studio is negotiating with director Stephen Herek (“Mr. Holland’s Opus”) and producer Toby Jaffe (“Blue Streak”) to develop the material for Herek to helm and Jaffe to produce.

Modern thriller

“In the Wind” is described as a contemporary, “Fugitive”-like thriller. Butcher is also adapting “Gateway” for Fox 2000.

Herek and Jaffe, who are partners, are currently in post-production on “Metal God,” which stars Jennifer Aniston and Mark Wahlberg in a pic from a script by John Stockwell.

Warner exec Kevin McCormick will oversee “In the Wind” for the studio.

Butcher is repped by Emile Gladstone at Broder, Kurland, Webb and Uffner and attorney Kevin Kelly at Gendler and Kelly.
