Any number of Hollywood execs have skeletons in their closet — but with the purchase of the spec “Nightcrawlers,” Warner Bros. execs will have a few extra.
Spec concerns itself with the adventures of an international coalition of kids whose job it is to combat the things that go bump in the night. When one of their team is captured, they must do battle with a variety of monsters found under beds everywhere, as well with as the Bogeyman himself, to liberate him.
The WB is understood to have ponied up mid-six figures against high-six figures for the potential CGI franchise actioner.
“Nightcrawlers” was penned by scribe Brian Lynch, who’s also penned spec scripts “The Next Muppet Movie” for the Jim Henson Co. and macabre laffer “Everybody’s Dead” for Artisan Entertainment.
Lynch was repped in the deal by Endeavor and attorney Jeff Frankel and is managed by Chris Bender and JC Spink, who’ll also produce the pic under their Bender/Spink production banner.
