Exec leaves after seven months

Stuart Snyder has left his post as president of USA Home Entertainment after seven months on the job.

USA publicity VP Kristen Foster confirmed that Snyder left the company last week, but declined further comment. Snyder was unreachable over the holiday weekend.

In the near term, Joe Amodei, senior VP of sales, retail and distribution, is expected to run day-to-day operations of the company in conjunction with USA Films chairman Scott Greenstein. The same structure was in place last year, between the departure of former homevideo president Bill Sondheim in June and Snyder’s arrival in October.

When he joined USA in October, Snyder said one of his priorities was developing a copy depth strategy for rental product. This summer the company will shift to flat, per-unit pricing of about $40 for all rental product (see related story, page 1).

Snyder is an industry vet who previously held senior management positions at Turner Home Entertainment, MGM/UA Home Entertainment and Live Entertainment (now Artisan). Just prior to joining USA, he was president of Feld Entertainment, producer of live shows including the Ringling Bros. and Barnum & Bailey circus.
