Touchstone Pictures has grabbed screenwriter Gary Scott Thompson’s “88 Minutes,” a suspense-thriller pitch for low-six against mid-six figures.
Lawrence Bender (“Good Will Hunting,” “Pulp Fiction”) and John Baldecchi (“Deep Rising”) will produce for Lawrence Bender Prods.
Story concerns a man who receives a mysterious phone call telling him he has 88 minutes to live, casting him on a frantic search for the person who’s trying to kill him.
Touchstone senior VP of production Mark Vahradian is overseeing the film.
Thompson penned “Racer X,” which is moving forward at Universal, with Paul Walker (“She’s All That,” the upcoming “The Skulls”) in the lead (Daily Variety, Jan. 13).
No director or actors are attached yet to “Minutes.” Baldecchi said Miramax and Fox passed on the pitch before Touchstone jumped in.
Deal was handled by William Morris agent Rob Carlson.
