Toho’s profits up 7%

Toho, a leading Japanese movie studio, posted record net profits of 4.1 billion yen ($39 million) during the six months ended Aug. 31, up 7% over the same period last year.

The increase was attributed to strong revenues for animated movies like “Pokemon” and “Dorae-mon,” as well as the recent suspense movie “White Out.”
