Gotham-based producer Arielle Tepper, currently co-producing “James Joyce’s The Dead” at the Belasco Theater on Broadway, has entered into an exclusive two-year deal with USA Films.
In 1998, Tepper was placed on Daily Variety’s “50 to Watch” list.
The pact — one of several that USA Films has forged over the past six months — calls for Tepper and her Arielle Tepper Prods. to develop features and television for the October Films label at USA.
Tepper said, “My new relationship with USA Films will provide me with an opportunity to enhance and expand my collaborations with the great talent of the New York theater world. … It’s an exciting prospect: the world of New York theater pooling resources with the world of independent film.”
A frequent theater producer, Tepper recently produced Aaron Harnick’s indie film “30 Days,” which premiered at the 1999 Toronto Film Festival. She also produced the concert tour and studio recording of Julian Fleisher and His Rather Big Band.
For Broadway, Tepper has produced John Leguizamo’s “Freak” and Sandra Bernhard’s “I’m Still Here … Damn It!” Off Broadway productions include “De La Guarda’s Villa Villa” and “Goodnight Children Everywhere” (with Playwrights Horizons).
Deal was negotiated by USA Films exec VP of business affairs Avy Eschenasy and attorney John Sloss of Sloss Law Offices.
