Patrick Stewart and Martin Short will voice characters in Nickelodeon Movies’ CGI pic “Jimmy Neutron: Boy Genius,” which Paramount has set for a holiday 2001 release.
Family pic will be produced by Steve Oedekerk, directed by John Davis and animated at DNA Prods.
Title character is a 10-year-old genius. Along with his robot dog, he battles evil, rescues his parents and saves the world, inventing an array of quirky gadgets along the way.
Prior to the film’s release, a series of comedic TV shorts introducing the character will air on Nickelodeon, accompanied by a videogame and Web site. Then, in fall 2002, a TV series will debut on Nickelodeon.
Multiplatform rollouts are Nickelodeon’s specialty. The Par-based film outfit has exploited its TV assets on two successful “Rugrats” features and the sleeper hit “Snow Day.” A third “Rugrats” pic is now in development.
