Stan Lee Media on Thursday tapped veteran animators Will Meugniot, Larry Houston and Thomas McLaughlin for exec positions within the company.
Meugniot, who has produced “The X-Men,” “Captain Planet,” and “The Real Ghostbusters” was appointed as exec veep of creative production.
Houston, who has directed, produced and created the storyboards on “The Fantastic Four,” “Spider-Man” and “The Incredible Hulk,” was tapped as a creative producer and director and will run day-to-day operations.
McLaughlin, who worked as an animator, director and designer on “Batman,” “Silver Surfer” and “Duckman,” will oversee several future creative projects for Stan Lee Media that are still to be announced.
Shares of Stan Lee Media remained unchanged at $12.75 on Thursday.
“Stan, Larry and I launched ‘The X-Men’ animated series together after I worked with Stan on several other projects,” Meugniot said. “The opportunity to work full-time with my childhood idol, as well as the chance to help develop a new medium is an unbeatable combination.”
The most recent Stan Lee Media creation for the Web, “The 7th Portal,” has been downloaded 2.8 million times since its premiere two months ago on Shockwave.com and stanlee.net.
New Web series
On May 2 a new series, “The Accuser,” will bow. “The Accuser” is the tale of a former Mob defense attorney who is mysteriously bestowed a high-tech exo-skeleton to battle the bad guys he used to keep out of jail.
“The Internet is just a terrific thing because it’s an innovators market,” McLaughlin said. “You don’t see management stifling a lot of creative ideas. Stan is going to be a powerhouse.”
The company, based in Encino, creates the Webisodes out of their in-house animation studio.
