Sony Pictures Family Entertainment and producer Denise Di Novi are planning to remake the 1966 Ida Lupino pic “The Trouble With Angels” at Sony.
Jenny Tripp is penning the remake. Execs on the project are SPFE’s senior veep Bob Higgins and exec director of creative affairs Joe D’Ambrosia.
The original “Trouble” pic was based on the Jane Trahey book “Life With Mother Superior,” adapted by Blanche Hanalis. It centers on a hip nun who outfoxes and matures two rebel-lious students at a Catholic girls’ school.
The original pic starred Rosalind Russell and Hayley Mills; Sony and Di Novi are already trying to attach an actress to reprise Russell’s role.
Formed nearly a year ago, SPFE is developing both live-action and animated feature films. On the division’s slate are such feature projects as “Pet Heroes,” “The Tenth Master,” “H.R. Pufnstuf” and “Land of the Lost.”
Animated feature “Still Live With Iris” is also in development at SPFE.
Tripp is repped by Hohman May-bank Lieb.
