After a protracted negotiation process, Casey Silver’s Gone Fishing Prods. and Universal Pictures have purchased “The Party Professional,” a script written by Mark Perez.
Warner Bros. was also interested in the project.
Silver, who purchased the script out of his discretionary fund for low six figures, will produce with Todd Lieberman and Andres Pinter co-producing.
Story centers on a 27-year-old college senior who is widely considered the world’s greatest party animal and wants nothing more than to stay in college. The dean conspires with professors to do whatever it takes to cut his ties with the university, even if it means issuing him passing grades so he can graduate.
Apart from penning “The Party Professional” last year, Perez is one of a team of writers under contract with Disney in a unique writers-in-residence setup.
Chris Salvaterra, veep of production at Gone Fishing Prods., brought the project into the company and will oversee its development. Tim O’Harra and Mary Parent will shepherd it for the studio.
Perez is repped by Mediachase.
