Silva, Hoffman make ‘Wish’

Time travel comedy/romance produced by Platt

It’s a family affair: Scribe Samantha Silva has sold her pitch “What You Wish For” to Universal while her husband, Michael Hoffman (“One Fine Day”), has committed to direct the film.

Project will be produced by Mark Platt and overseen by U exec veep Ally Brecker.

Story is a time travel comedy/romance about a young girl who feels out of place in modern America and travels back in time to the world of Jane Austen.

Silva sold the spec “Ebenezer and Back” to TNT (for producer Paula Weinstein and Baltimore/Spring Creek) and the pitch “Queen of the World” to Paramount.

Hoffman has helmed “A Midsummer Night’s Dream,” “Restoration” and “Soapdish.”

Silva is repped by Matt Luber at Rubicon Entertainment and attorney Ron Levin. Hoffman is repped by ICM.
