Tim C. Warner, prexy of the Cinemark Intl. theater chain, will be honored in March as ShoWest 2000’s Intl. Exhibitor of the Year, confab organizers announced Monday.
It’s Warner’s second ShoWest award; he was honored as NATO/ShoWester of the Year in 1989.
Warner joined Cinemark’s Latin American circuit in 1996 and has overseen its growth from 105 to 613 screens. The chain runs 69 sites in 11 countries spanning North, Central and South America.
A unit of Dallas-based Cinemark USA, which is the third-biggest U.S. circuit, the global exhib arm plans to add 300 screens at 50 sites in Latin America, Europe and Asia.
Warner previously served as prexy of the California-Nevada chapter of the National Assn. of Theater Owners. He also was general chairman of ShoWest from 1989-95.
Warner will receive his award in Las Vegas on March 6, the first of four days of ShoWest activities.
