Showeast honors Shafer

Castle Rock founder to receive lifetime achievement award

NEW YORK — Castle Rock Entertainment co-founder and president Martin Shafer will receive the lifetime achievement award at ShowEast 2000, which runs Oct. 11-14 in Orlando, Fla.

Shafer co-founded Castle Rock in 1987 with Alan Horn, Glenn Padnick, Rob Reiner and Andrew Scheinman. He has overseen development, production and distribution of all Castle Rock releases, which include “The Green Mile,” “A Few Good Men,” “Misery,” “Lone Star,” “Barcelona,” “Honeymoon in Vegas” and “When Harry Met Sally.”

Among previous ShowEast lifetime achievement award recipients are Sherry Lansing, Joe Roth, Wes Craven, John Frankenheimer, David Brown, Jack Valenti, Richard Zanuck and Samuel Goldwyn Jr.

The honor will be presented at a dinner ceremony sponsored by Warner Bros. and Eastman Kodak.
