Silbling scribes Anthony and Joe Russo have signed to write an untitled house-of-horrors thriller for Berg/Saccani Entertainment.
The deal is the first major gig for the Russos, who caught Hollywood’s attention by writing and directing the independent comedy “Pieces.” That movie, which deals with a failing toupee store in Cleveland, debuted at the Slamdance Film Festival in 1997.
The Russo brothers, who are repped by UTA, grew up in Cleveland and are expected to bring a gritty sensibility to the pic.
Producers Jon Berg and Damien Saccani set up the horror project at Universal last month with the goal of a Halloween 2001 release. The storyline is expected to spoof the current wave of reality programming on TV.
Julie Plec will also produce. Berg and Saccani are represented by attorney Michael Schenkman of Bloom, Hergott, Diemer & Cook.
