Prinze kicks at Miramax

Vengeance story penned by 'Karate Kid's' Kamen

Freddie Prinze Jr. will star in an as-yet-untitled martial arts project from Miramax Films. Pic is based on a pitch from “Karate Kid” scribe Robert Mark Kamen.

Story follows an American boy raised by Chinese monks after his parents are murdered who travels to Gotham seeking vengeance.

Kamen, who co-wrote “A Walk in the Clouds” and recently sold Miramax the thriller spec “Leaving Eden,” pitched the project to Miramax co-chairman Harvey Weinstein, production co-prexy Bob Osher, development and production veep Michelle Raimo and director of creative affairs Louis Anderman. Raimo and Anderman, who reeled in the project, will oversee development with Osher.

Miramax was repped by Osher and senior veep of business and legal affairs Vicki Cherkas. Kamen was repped by UTA, Prinze by Ric Beddingfield of the Beddingfield Co. and CAA.
