The Producers Guild of America has selected “The Blair Witch Project” producers Gregg Hale and Robin Cowie as recipients of its Todd AO Nova Award to honor the year’s most promising emerging film producer.
The award will be presented March 2 as part of organization’s 11th Annual Golden Laurel Awards at the Century Plaza Hotel. “Blair Witch” grossed more than $140 million domestically.
The United Airlines Nova Award will be presented to Aaron Sorkin, producer of “The West Wing” and “Sports Night,” as the most promising emerging producer for television.
The organization also announced it has named the producers of “Being John Malkovich” — Michael Stipe, Sandy Stern, Steve Golin and Vincent Landay — as winners of its Vision Award for movies in recognition of imagination and artistic achievement. Its Vision Award for TV will be presented to John Wells for “ER,” “West Wing” and “Third Watch.”
