FilmFour, Key Films co-finance Vinterberg pic

VISIT CANNES 2000
CANNES — The U.K.’s FilmFour and Italy’s Key Films have come on board to co-finance the first English-language pic by Danish director Thomas Vinterberg.

Titled “It’s All About Love,” it’s the story of two separated lovers — one an ice skater disillusioned with her celebrity — who are reunited in New York and go on a road trip to rebuild their relationship.

Pic marks a stylistic departure from the Dogma vow of chastity under which Vinterberg shot his debut pic “The Celebration.” The new project will create a magical near future including everything from global freezing to the disappearance of gravity in Uganda.

Script is written by Vinterberg and Mogens Rukov. The producer is Birgitte Hald for Nimbus Film/Komrad Film. Shooting in planned for March 2001 in New York and Scandinavia.

FilmFour will take all English-lingo rights, while Trust Film Sales will handle the rest of the world except Italy.

Vinterberg commented, “I wanted to throw myself into a larger exploration of life and I think this is a big love story, which, in all humbleness, embraces the whole world. It’s important to take chances and I’m attempting to do something spectacular.”
