‘Others’ enlists Italy’s Lucky Red

Distrib to co-produce Kidman starrer

CANNES — Italian distributor Lucky Red will co-produce the Nicole Kidman starrer “The Others.” Directed by Spaniard Alejandro Amenabar and co-produced by Spain’s Sogecine and Las Producciones del Escorpion and France’s Studio Canal, the psychological thriller rolls June 12 in Santander, Northern Spain and Madrid. Par-based Cruise/Wagner takes an exec producer credit.

As part of its co-production deal, Lucky Red will also take Italian rights to the pic. Lucky Red co-produced Amenabar’s previous film, psychological thriller “Open Your Eyes.”

“The Others” is Lucky Red’s biggest co-production ever.

“Without abandoning artfilm fest pics, the co-production deal reflects our desire to get into bigger films, the best of European films, releasing 12 to 15 a year as a distributor and occassional producer,” said Lucky Red’s co-owner and CEO Andrea Occhipinti.

Lucky Red picked up this year’s French smash “Le gout des autres.”
