For the first time in its 72-year history, the Academy of Motion Picture Arts & Sciences will serve up a limited number of official Oscar posters to the public. The Acad also will sell future awards posters, making Oscar 2000 the first in a series. Priced at $20 each, the posters will be offered until April 14.
The poster, designed by Arnold Schwartzman in the vein of the 1926 silent classic “Metropolis,” is featured at movie theaters and videostores. Interested buyers can call (800) 554-1841 or go to http://www.oscars.org.
The 72nd Academy Awards kudocast will be broadcast by ABC on March 26 from the Shrine Auditorium in Los Angeles.
