The Academy of Motion Picture Arts & Sciences has sent out its Oscar-campaign guidelines to the marketing departments of studios and distribution companies.
AMPAS executive administrator Ric Robertson said the guidelines are similar to last year’s, with most of the changes designed to clarify existing regulations.
One change from last year is that a member may not be sent both a DVD and a videotape of the same motion picture.
Violations of the guidelines are usually punished by a loss of tickets to the Academy Awards kudocast, but serious violations could be punished by loss of eligibility for Oscar consideration.
Oscar nominations will be announced Feb. 13; awards will be handed out March 25.
