Tale of high-schoolers who make porno during summer

David Kirkpatrick’s Original Voices has inked a deal worth $250,000 against $600,000 to option David Steinberg’s feature script “After School Special.”

Company beat out several specialty units, including Fox Searchlight, which had made an offer on the script.

The story centers around three high school sophomores who decide to make a porno film during their summer vacation.

The writer’s first spec script, “The Best and Brightest” (formerly “Slackers”), starring Devon Sawa, James King and Jason Schwartzman, is scheduled for release in February from Destination Films.

“Slackers” sold on spec for $700,000 last year. Steinberg, who also wrote a draft of “American Pie 2″ for Universal, is penning a sitcom pilot for 20th Century Fox TV.

Original Voices, which produced “The Opposite of Sex” and “Big Night,” is funded by German’s 2K Media, which owns a 50% stake in the shingle.

The script was brought to Kirkpatrick by producer Keetgi Kogan, a former New Regency exec-turned-producer and graduate of USC’s Peter Stark Producing Program.

Steinberg is repped by Jewerl Ross at APA, Guymon Casady at Industry Entertainment and attorney Robert Myman. Kogan was repped by Ross and Myman.
