“Blade” helmer Stephen Norrington is in negotiations to develop and direct the feature adaptation of another Marvel Comic character, Ghost Rider, for Steven Paul’s Crystal Sky Entertainment and Marvel Studios.
“Ghost Rider” will reunite Norrington with “Blade” writer David Goyer, who is penning the film.
Marvel and Crystal Sky will jointly finance the pic, which will detail the doings of a motorcycle stuntman able to perform superhuman feats; by night, he is transformed into a fiery demon who stalks bad guys.
Pic, budgeted at about $75 million, will be backed by MM Media Capital Partners. Marvel CEO Avi Arad, Crystal Sky CEO Paul and Jon Voight, a producing partner in Crystal Sky, will produce. No studio is currently attached.
New Line Cinema’s “Blade” earned $70 million in its 1998 domestic release.
Norrington is repped by ICM.
