The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences’ Don and Gee Nicholl Fellowships Screenwriting competish received entries this year from all 50 states, as well as the District of Columbia, Guam and Puerto Rico. In addition, 28 countries were represented, including first-time entries from Brunei, Egypt and South Korea.
Fellowships will be announced in October and presented at ceremonies in November.
The annual competish is open every year to any individual who has not sold or optioned a screenplay or teleplay for more than $5,000, or received any fellowships.
Since the program’s inception in 1986, more than 60 fellowships have been given. Past recipients include Ehren Kruger (“Scream 3”) and Randall McCormick (“Titan A.E.”).
