New Line Cinema has made two executive moves: Michael Del Nin has been tapped as director of business management, and Valerie Pappas has been upped to director of national promotions.
Del Nin comes from a stint at Smith Barney as a financial analyst, where he was sole analyst on two large media transactions, Clear Channel’s $23.5 billion acquisition of AMFM and the $5 billion acquisition of Jacor.
“This is an important area of growth for the studio, and we are looking for assistance as we continue to explore new revenue streams and look for new ways to maximize profits,” said Jim Rosenthal, president of new media and exec VP of business development.
Del Nin’s responsibilities will include providing strategic planning and business development support to New Line’s core business as well as new businesses. He will oversee the business aspects of its online store and auction site, as well as evaluating and managing investments.
Pappas was previously manager of national promotions for New Line Cinema and will continue to be responsible for national promotional campaigns, film releases and soundtrack tie-ins. Over the past six years, her campaigns have included “Austin Powers,” “Blade,” “The Bachelor,” and most recently “Love and Basketball” and “Frequency.” She is working on programs for “Town and Country” and “Lord of the Rings.”
“She has become one of the most respected young promotions executives working in the industry today,” said Mary Ross Gobino, senior VP of national promotions.
