Five weeks after snatching up the comedy pitch “Corky Bonono” with Chris Kattan attached to star, the Walt Disney Co. has greenlit the project and plans to start production on July 31.
Disney is seeking to put a director on the project.
TV scribes David Garrett and Jason Ward, who have written episodes of “The Jeff Foxworthy Show,” wrote the “Corky” script, based on a character Kattan developed.
Robert Simonds will produce, with Tracy Trench serving as exec producer. Buena Vista Motion Pictures Group prexy Nina Jacobson will oversee the project along with senior veep Gregg Hoffman and creative executive Michael Haynes.
Story revolves around the loser son of a Mafia honcho who must go undercover for the FBI.
Kattan will next star in Fox’s “Monkey Bone” and Paramount Pictures’ “Numbers.”
Kattan, Garrett and Ward are repped by Endeavor.
