Miramax Films has closed a deal worth mid-six figures to acquire the film rights to John Saul’s New York Times paperback bestseller “The Right Hand of Evil,” which will be adapted and produced under the company’s Dimension label.
Miramax co-chairman Bob Weinstein was personally involved in the acquisition along with Jennifer Wachtell, Gotham-based director of development.
Currently ranked No. 7 on the bestseller list and rising, “The Right Hand” is a thriller about a family splintered by a troubled marriage and the slow death of an estranged aunt — all of which is revealed when a family moves into its ancestral home.
Andy Cohen at Grade A Entertainment, Stephanie Tade at Gotham-based Jane Rotosen Agency and Joel Gotler at AMG/Renaissance repped Saul.
Miramax’s end of the pact was negotiated by Brian Burkin, senior veep of business and legal affairs.
