Madonna’s Mad Guy Films has optioned the script “The Long Hair Depression” from scribe Jeff Copeland.
Madonna, who is developing the project with Copeland, plans on producing the film and is considering starring in it as well.
Project was brought into the company by Steven Lapuk, who will produce along with Madonna.
A love story about a husband and wife as well as a coming-of-age story about a family, “Long Hair” is set in southern Missouri in the early 1970s.
Debra Martin Chase will serve as exec producer.
Copeland previously wrote the book “Low Life in High Heels,” the story of Andy Warhol “superstar” Holly Woodlawn.
Copeland is repped by manager Lorianne Hall, Madonna by UTA and manager Caresse Henry.
