Leavitt to pen Bel Air laffer

WB to distribute pic spawned from seven-figure pact

Scribe Charles Leavitt (“The Mighty”) will be paid seven figures to pen and produce an original script for Bel Air Entertainment.

Comedy pic will be distributed by Warner Bros.

Leavitt adapted the Rodman Philbrick novel “The Mighty,” which became a Miramax pic directed by Peter Chelsom and starring Sharon Stone. He also penned “The Sunchaser,” helmed by Michael Cimino and starring Woody Harrelson.

Leavitt recently completed an adaptation of “Lady Gold,” from the Angela Amato and Joe Sharkey novel, for Paramount-based Icon Prods. It’s on the list of projects Mel Gibson is considering directing. Coleen Camp will produce.
