Italian moviegoing $ drops dramatically

Lira spent on pop music concerts

Public spending on movies decreased 9.6% in 1999 though overall entertainment industry spending in Italy rose 4.7% to $2.7 billion in 1999 compared to the previous year, according to Italian national rights org SIAE.

Popular music concerts registered the most significant increase, film admissions the heftiest decline.
