Inside Move: The Rock drops out of pic

Revolution committed to make film anyways

The WWF’s top-rated grappler The Rock has bailed out of Sony-based Revolution Studios’ untitled sci-fi actioner.

The Rock, whose real name is Dwayne Johnson, is a former gridironer whose popular alter ego is the top draw of both the World Wrestling Federation’s “Smackdown!” on weblet UPN and “WWF Raw” on cabler TNT. He was to topline the untitled pic for a $5 million payday.

Revolution is still committed to making the pic, which is still being written by James Wong and Glen Morgan. It centers on a futuristic cop who must battle an evil version of himself from another dimension.

Johnson’s reps at Endeavor could not be reached for comment.
