Aspiring screenwriters attending Gotham’s Independent Feature Film Market in September will now be eligible for a new award. The Independent Film Project has created the Pipedream Script Award, a $10,000 prize for a script in development submitted to the IFFM.
Sponsored by Pipedream Prods. prexy Annie Schulhof, the juried prize is reserved for writers whose screenplays do not have a producer attached and for which all rights are available. The deadline for script submission is July 5.
“The creation of this award is a real windfall for screenwriters attending the market,” said IFP executive director Michelle Byrd, who noted that it’s the largest fellowship introduced to the IFFM in the past three years.
Schulhof has committed to the award for three years.
