NEW YORK — Helen Hunt has been set to star with Woody Allen in his fall project, which begins filming in New York this September for DreamWorks.
Though Allen is customarily covert about the subject matter and even the title of the annual project he writes and directs, sources said Hunt and Allen are the central characters. The film is the first of a three-picture deal Allen recently made with DreamWorks, which will distribute domestically. Charlize Theron is set for a minor role in the film.
Hunt, who won an Oscar for her role in “As Good as It Gets,” has four films bowing this fall.
She stars with Kevin Spacey and Haley Joel Osment in “Pay It Forward,” the Mimi Leder-directed Warner Bros./Bel Air feature which opens Oct. 20. She plays a supporting role in “Dr. T and the Women,” the Robert Altman-directed ensemble with Richard Gere, Laura Dern and Liv Tyler.
She also stars with Mel Gibson in “What Women Want,” the Nancy Meyers-directed Paramount comedy opening Dec. 18, and with Tom Hanks in “Cast Away,” the Robert Zemeckis-directed film from Fox and DreamWorks that bows at Christmas.
Hunt is repped by CAA and managed by Connie Tavel of Tavel Entertainment.
