Tenpercentery Broder, Kurland, Webb Uffner will launch a new indie film arm that will be headed by indie producer Todd Hoffman.
Hoffman will work closely with Broder’s feature film department topper Bruce Kaufman.
Hoffman’s mandate is to expand opportunities for current Broder clients and soon, to recruit independent scripters, helmers and producers.
“We consider securing Todd’s services a coup for the agency,” said Kaufman, adding that Hoffman’s relationships would “enable us to put films together and to expand Broder Kurland Webb Uffner’s presence in the independent film marketplace.”
Hoffman most recently was in a first look deal with Viacom Prods., and previously had a first look deal with David Entertainment. There, he produced indie pics such as the Kyra Sedgwick-starrer “Labor Pains” and “Meeting Daddy” with Lloyd and Jeff Bridges. Prior to that, he’d served as veepee of production and development for Craig Baumgarten, working on such pics as “It Could Happen to You” and “Jade.”
“Increasingly, our clients are writing and directing films with an independent flavor,” said Kaufman. “We recognize that the challenge in an ever-changing market is to explore an alternative film source in order to realize our client’s goals.”
