Sam Weisman is attached to direct Phoenix Pictures’ “Blind Man’s Bluff,” confirmed Mike Medavoy, Phoenix chairman and CEO.
Weisman (“George of the Jungle,” “The Out of Towners”) will fashion the script with new scripter Mark Schwahn, who most recently penned “Whatever It Takes,” which Phoenix bows in March.
Pic was originally sold as a mid-six figure pitch to Phoenix by scribe Eric Freiser, who, with Schwahn, was subsequently hired to rewrite. The “Bluff” story now hinges on a self-absorbed young man who feigns blindness in order to get his beloved pooch past the board of directors of an exclusive co-op apartment. When he finds that the girl of his dreams is a resident there, too, his scheme becomes a nightmare and chaos ensues.
3 Arts Entertainment will produce, with Phoenix execs Christy Prunier and Nick Morton supervising the production.
Weisman and Schwahn are both repped by UTA; Freiser was repped by Metropolitan Talent Agency’s Jeff Okin.
